Who we are

Fuguro is a Japanese-learning application operated by a small independent team. You can reach us any time at contact@fuguro.app with questions about these Terms, your account, or your purchase.

Eligibility & your account

To use the Service you must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) and able to enter a binding agreement. If you're using the Service on behalf of a school, business, or other organisation, you confirm you're authorised to bind it to these Terms.

You agree to:

• provide accurate information when you sign up and keep it current;
• keep your password confidential and use a strong, unique one;
• be responsible for everything that happens under your account;
• tell us promptly if you suspect any unauthorised access at contact@fuguro.app.

One account is for one person. Sharing a paid account's login with others is not permitted.

Free access

You can create a Fuguro account and study a generous free tier with no payment details required: all of Phase I (Kana Awakening) is free, and Phase II (Core Ascent) is free through level 5. This is meant to give you a real feel for how the lessons, reviews, and spaced-repetition system work before you decide to buy.

Free access is provided as-is and may change as the Service evolves. We'll do our best to keep the free lessons available, but we don't guarantee any particular feature will stay in the free tier indefinitely.

Fuguro Plus

Fuguro Plus unlocks the full content library beyond the free tier: every level of both phases, reviews, reading stories, arcade games, and any additional learning features we ship over time. It is a single one-time purchase of US$499 that gives you access for the lifetime of the Service. There is no subscription: nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel.

We may run temporary offers: limited-time discounts, launch pricing, regional pricing, or promotional codes. Offer prices apply only for the period and on the terms shown at checkout; once the offer ends, the standard price above applies to new purchases.

All prices are in US dollars. Any applicable sales tax, VAT, GST, or similar taxes are calculated and collected at checkout by our payment partner based on your location, and will be shown clearly before you confirm a purchase. Your bank or card network may add its own currency-conversion or foreign-transaction fees, which are outside our control.

“Lifetime” means the lifetime of the Service: it is a one-time payment that gives you access to Fuguro Plus for as long as Fuguro operates the Service. It is not tied to your or anyone else's personal lifetime. If we ever permanently discontinue the Service, the lifetime plan will naturally end with it; we will give reasonable advance notice before any such shutdown.

Billing

Payments for Fuguro Plus are processed by Dodo Payments, who acts as our merchant of record. That means Dodo Payments sells the purchase to you on our behalf, handles the transaction, collects and remits any applicable taxes, and is named on your bank or card statement. Your use of the Service itself, and these Terms, remain between you and Fuguro; Dodo Payments' own terms and privacy notice apply to the checkout, payment, and tax handling.

Fuguro Plus is a single one-time charge, not a subscription. We charge your payment method once, at the price shown at checkout. Nothing renews, there are no recurring charges, and there is nothing to cancel. Once your payment is confirmed, your access is granted for the lifetime of the Service.

We may change the price of Fuguro Plus over time. Any change applies to future purchases only and never affects access you have already paid for.

Refunds

Phase I is free in full, and Phase II is free through level 5: that is your trial, to take before you commit. Because of that, the one-time payment for Fuguro Plus is non-refundable, except where a refund is required by applicable consumer-protection law.

If something goes seriously wrong on our side, for example a duplicate charge, a billing error, or an extended outage that materially deprives you of the Service, contact us and we'll work something out in good faith.

Acceptable use

While using the Service, please don't:

• break the law, infringe anyone's rights, or harass other people;
• try to break, overload, probe, or reverse-engineer the Service, or get around our rate limits and security checks;
• scrape, mass-download, or otherwise copy our content for redistribution, training third-party models, or competing services;
• share, resell, or sublicense your account or your Fuguro Plus access;
• upload anything illegal, harmful, or that you don't have the right to share;
• use the Service to send spam, run bots, or interfere with how it works for other learners.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with or without notice depending on the severity.

Your content

You keep ownership of anything you create on Fuguro: your personal notes on items, messages you send us through the contact form, and any other content you submit (“Your Content”).

To run the Service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, back up, transmit, and display Your Content as needed to operate the Service for you. This licence exists only so we can show you your own notes and run the Service; it ends when you delete the content or your account, except for the limited copies we may need to keep for backups, legal compliance, or dispute resolution.

You're responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the rights to submit it. We may remove content that violates these Terms or the law.

Our content & licence

The Service, including the lessons, vocabulary lists, mnemonics, stories, illustrations, audio, the user interface, the spaced-repetition system, and the Fuguro name and logo, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws.

Subject to these Terms (and, for paid features, your Fuguro Plus purchase), we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for your own learning. You don't get any other rights. In particular, no right to copy, redistribute, modify, publicly display, or build a competing product from our content.

Availability & changes

We work to keep the Service running smoothly, but we don't promise uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly secure operation. Outages happen, providers fail, and maintenance windows are real.

We may add, change, or remove features over time, including moving features between the free and paid tiers, to keep the Service sustainable and useful. For material changes that negatively affect Fuguro Plus access you've already paid for, we'll give you reasonable notice.

Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time, and you can request full account deletion by emailing contact@fuguro.app.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, abuse the Service, or expose us or other users to legal, security, or financial risk. Where appropriate we'll try to warn you first and give you a chance to fix the issue. Sections of these Terms that should reasonably survive (including those on your content licence, our intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) survive any termination.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted operation.

Fuguro is a learning tool, not a certified educational institution or a guarantee of fluency. Your progress depends on the work you put in. We don't promise any particular result from using the Service, including passing a specific exam or reaching a specific level by a specific date.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Fuguro and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or learning progress, arising out of or in connection with the Service or these Terms, even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages.

For any direct damages, our total aggregate liability to you in connection with the Service or these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim and (b) US$50.

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Governing law & disputes

These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or the Service, are governed by applicable law without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, and subject to the mandatory consumer-protection rights of the country where you live.

Before starting any formal proceeding, please email contact@fuguro.app so we can try to resolve the issue directly. Most things can be sorted out quickly that way.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. When we do, we'll revise the “Last updated” date at the top. For material changes (like a meaningful change to billing, refunds, or your rights) we'll take reasonable steps to tell you, for example by email or an in-app notice. If you continue using the Service after an update takes effect, you accept the revised Terms. If you don't agree, you can stop using the Service.
